BREAKING NEWS: PASTOR ADEBOYE RENAMED RCCG, SEE THE NEW NAME AND REASON.
The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor E. A. Adeboye, has officially renamed the RCCG Apapa Family to “The Favoured Family.” This change was announced during his second visit to Trinity Towers, the headquarters of the RCCG City of David parish, which oversees the Apapa Family.
Accompanied by his wife, Pastor Folu Adeboye, Pastor Adeboye shared that he had received a divine directive to make this significant change within the RCCG community. He emphasized the need for the Apapa Family to experience a fresh outpouring of grace, symbolized through the introduction of salt and a new cruse.
Preaching from 2 Kings 2:19-24, Pastor Adeboye explained that the salt represented God’s restoration of vitality, the elimination of bitterness, and swift progress, while the new cruse symbolized a new beginning and the recovery of lost glory. He further encouraged the congregation that those who had once been spiritually lukewarm would now burn brightly again.
The RCCG Apapa Family has a rich heritage, starting in 1991 at Roxy Cinema, Apapa, with about 50 members under Pastor Tony Rapu’s leadership. Within five years, the family expanded to over 45 parishes, both locally and internationally, supported by over 500 individuals. The family’s mission is to lead people to heaven while nurturing leaders and fostering a community of faith, excellence, and integrity.
Over the years, the Apapa Family has undergone significant growth, with several pastors, including Pastor Tony Rapu, Pastor Eskor Mfon, Pastor Idowu Iluyomade, and now Pastor Kayode Pitan (who succeeded Pastor Iluyomade on September 1, 2024), playing pivotal roles in the family’s transformation and expansion.
