Lagos to begin night-time repairs on Ozumba Mbadiwe road
The Lagos State Government has announced that it will commence repair works on a section of Ozumba Mbadiwe Road, from Bonny Camp junction, starting Monday, September 15, 2025.
According to a statement released by the Ministry of Transportation and signed by Commissioner Oluwaseun Osiyemi on Sunday, the rehabilitation exercise will last for one week, ending on Sunday, September 21.
The works are scheduled to take place at night, between 9:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m. daily, in a bid to reduce the impact on traffic during the day.
Osiyemi said the decision to work at night was deliberate, aimed at minimising inconvenience for motorists and businesses that rely heavily on the corridor.
“Ozumba Mbadiwe Road is a critical artery linking Victoria Island with other parts of Lagos.
“The rehabilitation is part of our continuous efforts to maintain the state’s road infrastructure.
“We urge motorists to cooperate with traffic officers and show understanding during this short period,” Osiyemi said.
The Ministry advised motorists and commuters to plan their trips accordingly, noting that while the works are ongoing, minor delays may occur despite the night schedule.
Road users are urged to follow traffic signs, exercise patience, and comply with instructions from traffic enforcement agencies deployed along the corridor.
Ozumba Mbadiwe Road is a major route connecting commuters from the Lekki axis into Victoria Island and Ikoyi.
The road is often plagued by heavy traffic, especially during peak hours, making timely maintenance essential for the smooth flow of vehicles.
